Manchester City’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night was a difficult experience for all involved with the Etihad Stadium outfit, but particularly right-back Kyle Walker who suffered a particularly nightmarish performance.
The England international failed to contain Roberto Firmino for the first goal, and his attempt to do so only saw the ball roll into the path of Mohamed Salah – who typically poked home from just a few yards out to give Liverpool a real foothold in the Champions League quarter-final.
Manchester United legend Roy Keane gave a scathing analysis of Walker’s performance after the match, describing it in the ITV studio as ‘dreadful’.
“I thought Walker was dreadful. Ok you have to stop the crosses, but it was lazy defending. Liverpool looked like they were going to score every time they went forward.”
And ahead of facing Keane’s former side this weekend in a Manchester derby that could clinch City the title, that does give Pep Guardiola a key question to answer. Should Walker, who has been virtually ever-present this season, come out of the team for Saturday’s huge clash?
