Che Adams to Leeds remains a mystery to everyone.
One minute the deal is happening, the next it’s not.
Another moment it’ll be a loan with an option to buy, another it’s an obligation to buy.
Yes, you read that correctly, the latest update on Adams’ move to Elland Road states that a deal to bring him in could include an obligation to buy.
What’s been said then?
Beren Cross was hosting a Q&A session on LeedsLive, and understandably questions came up about United’s interest in the striker.

“Let’s start with the topic several of you have all asked about already today. You may be closer to the truth than you realise, Jonathan. I would absolutely believe if United somehow landed Che Adams it would be as a loan with an obligation to buy,” Cross wrote.
“That’s how the Daniel James deal would have been framed last season. If, and it remains a big if, they can convince Adams Elland Road is the place to be, that arrangement seems to be most likely. As you say, it’s hard to see Southampton allowing a short-term loan without any major financial incentive at the end of it.”
Massive error
This could be a huge error in judgement from Leeds United.
Adams was brilliant last time he was in the Championship as he netted 22 goals for Birmingham, but agreeing a deal to sign a man who hasn’t scored a goal in over seven months on a permanent deal is just bad business.
The 23-year-old’s confidence and self-belief could have been destroyed by his current barren run, and he may never rediscover the form that saw him nominated for the Championship Player of the Year award last term.
Signing him with an option to buy would have been a no-lose situation. It allowed the club to judge him after half a season with them and then decide whether or not they want to splash the cash on him.
However, if they agree to this deal they’d be tied into signing the forward even if he flopped spectacularly, and with Leeds’ current FFP situation they simply can’t afford to waste a penny never mind millions of pounds
Meanwhile, one Leeds man’s Elland Road career could be under threat if United complete a signing.
