Speaking to Football FanCast, Peterborough Director of Football Barry Fry has questioned whether Sean Dyche would swap Burnley for Crystal Palace.
The 49-year-old, who’s an extremely popular figure with the Clarets faithful, has done an exceptional job during his nine years at Turf Moor, leading Burnley into the Premier League on two occasions.
But even more impressively, Dyche has turned the Lancashire outfit into an established top-flight club, with next season their seventh campaign in England’s top division.
During that period, Dyche also took Burnley into Europe, but having realistically taken the club as far as possible, he’s often been touted to other Premier League managerial jobs.
The latest of which is Crystal Palace, following the recent departure of Roy Hodgson, with him said to be a leading contender for the role.
However, Palace finished just five points and three places above Burnley in the table, and Fry exclusively told Football FanCast that he isn’t convinced Selhurst Park would be the right move for Dyche:
“Sean Dyche has done it and he does it on a shoestring budget. He spends less every year, his budget is the least in the Premier League, he’s a miracle man.
“Whether he would leave Burnley and start again, I’m not so sure.
“I think with new owners, Burnley would be mad not to sit him down and give him a better budget to strengthen his squad.”
